Internship
Internship Overview
An internship is the practical application of the technical skills acquired during the course of study. Typically, it is conducted at the end of the sixth academic semester, which corresponds to the end of the third year. However, depending on individual preferences, it can also be undertaken at the end of the second or fourth year. Nonetheless, at the end of the second year, students may not possess sufficient technical maturity to fully benefit from the experience. Conversely, undertaking the internship at the end of the fourth year might impact the graduation timeline, as there would be no other coursework obligations aside from the internship. Therefore, the end of the third year is recommended as the most suitable period, providing students with the opportunity to generate new ideas prior to embarking on their thesis studies during the fourth year.
Internship Registration and Procedures
The internship is selected as a course during the enrollment period preceding the second semester of the third year (6th semester). Subsequently, the internship process is initiated and monitored through the “Bilmuh Internship Tracking” system, accessible via kimlik.ege.edu.tr. Comprehensive information regarding the Bilmuh Internship process can be found in the department’s internship information session recording, available at the following link:

Frequently Asked Questions about the Internship
Q1) Can I undertake the internship during the semester?
A1) If you have any courses with mandatory attendance during the current semester (courses being taken for the first time or those repeated due to failing with an “FF” grade), it is not possible to undertake a mandatory internship during this period.
Q2) The organization where I applied/plan to start my internship requested proof that the internship is mandatory. How can I obtain this document?
A2) Students whose internship applications have been approved via the "Bilmuh Internship Tracking" system can access the "View Internship Application Form" button under the "Internship Application" tab. The signed internship application document, displayed upon clicking this button, serves as proof of a mandatory internship and can be used during the application process. This document can be downloaded in PDF format by clicking the "Print" button.
Q3) How many days of insurance coverage can the university provide during the internship period?
A3) Under normal circumstances, you are expected to complete an internship lasting 20 working days, which is deemed sufficient. However, if the organization deems a longer internship to be more beneficial, the university can provide health insurance coverage for up to 40 working days.
Q4) I have received an internship offer. What should I do to start my internship?
A4) To begin the internship, you must first enter the "Internship Start Date," "Internship End Date," and "Internship Location" details in the "Internship Details" section of the "Bilmuh Internship Tracking" system and save these details using the "Save" button. After completing this step, you need to send the "Internship Acceptance Form" (available in PDF format) to the organization where the internship offer was received, and obtain a signed and stamped copy of this form from the organization. The signed and stamped form must be uploaded to the internship acceptance document upload section in the "Internship Details" section at least 2 weeks before the internship start date and saved in the system. If the Internship Acceptance Form is uploaded but not saved using the "Save" button, it will not be visible to the internship coordinator. Once these steps are completed, you can commence your internship on the date specified in the system.
Q5) The organization where I will be interning is requesting an SGK (Social Security Institution) employment entry declaration. How can I obtain this document and when?
A5) The SGK employment entry declaration can be obtained via the e-Government portal (e-devlet) once the student affairs office at the Faculty of Engineering has registered your SGK entry.
Q6) I have completed my internship. What should I do next?
A6) After completing your internship, both the "Internship Evaluation Form" and the "Internship Report" must be signed and stamped by the organization where the internship was carried out. The approved documents should be scanned in color and uploaded to the relevant sections in the "Internship Completion" area of the system, and saved using the "Save" button. If the Internship Evaluation Form and Internship Report are uploaded but not saved using the "Save" button, or if only one of these documents is uploaded, the internship will not be considered complete, and thus will not be visible to the internship coordinator.
Q7) I have completed my internship. When will my grade be recorded in the system?
A7) The Internship Success Grades of students who have completed the internship completion processes as outlined in response to Question 6 are reported weekly to the Dean's Office. The internship grades will be entered into the transcript by the student affairs office at the Faculty of Engineering. Therefore, your internship grade will be visible in the system within 1 week to 10 days following the completion of the internship processes.
Q8) In which organizations can I undertake my internship?
A8) Internships can be conducted at organizations that employ at least one Computer Engineer or Electrical-Electronics Engineer.
Q9) Who is authorized to sign the Internship Evaluation Form and Internship Report?
A9) The Internship Evaluation Form and Internship Report can be signed by supervisors or officials in the department where the internship was conducted. It is not mandatory for these individuals to be Computer Engineers or Electrical-Electronics Engineers.
